Our 2 year old has had idli for breakfast every single day for three months

Two idlis, a little ghee, no chutney. She won't consider anything else in the morning, and she eats it happily. My mother-in-law, who has her on agreed days, thinks she needs variety and keeps offering upma and dosa, which come back untouched. Lunch and dinner are varied and she eats reasonably well then. Is the same breakfast every day a problem at this age, or one of those things that sorts itself out? I'd rather not turn breakfast into a contest if it doesn't need to be one.

our son had ragi porridge every morning for about two years and refused everything else before 10 am. at 15 he eats everything, mostly in quantities that worry the grocery budget. if the rest of her day is varied i wouldn't fight breakfast

Same with our daughter, except it was plain dosa. Our paediatrician's view was to look at the whole week rather than one meal. Once we stopped pushing alternatives at breakfast, she started asking for them herself a few months later.
