Office moving to a campus across town, and my 25 minute commute becomes 75

Our team shifts to the new campus from October. From Kompally that's most of the city to cross, twice a day. Right now I do the preschool drop for our 4 year old on my way in, and my partner does evenings with our caregiver. With the new commute I'd be leaving before he's awake. My partner's mornings don't bend much either. Those of you who did a long commute with a preschooler, what changed? Did one parent take all the mornings, or did you pay someone to cover them? Our teenager has offered, but he leaves for school at 7, so that's mostly a nice thought 😄

We have a version of this. My partner does all the mornings, I do all the pickups, and we stopped trying to split each day evenly. It works because each of us owns one fixed half of the day. The cost is that I almost never see the morning side, and our little one is a different child at 7 am. Have you asked about a later start on the new campus? Ours allowed a 10 to 7 shift for people with long commutes, though that only helps if your evenings are covered.

Asked. The answer was 'we'll see once we move', which I'm reading as no for now. A 10 to 7 day would also mean our caregiver staying till 8, so I'm pricing that out this week.
