neighbour drops her 8 yr old at ours 'for an hour' because i work from home. the hour is now three

started the first week of the holidays. the girls are classmates and get on fine, thats not the issue. the issue is i have production calls in the afternoon and i spend them running between the laptop and the kitchen sorting out snack fights. how do i say this without it becoming a building thing

give the time before she drops, not after. 'can do 2 to 3 today' works better than hinting at 4.30

tried it this afternoon. she said sure and came back at 5.15 with a box of sweets. so now i feel bad and it was still 3 hours

      Replying to @mellow_fern_3184

The sweets are her way of saying she knows 🙂 We lean on our neighbours too, with a toddler, and I'd rather someone told me straight than let it pile up. Maybe make it about the calls, not about her daughter. Whether she hears it is another matter.

Does it go the other way at all? If she could take both girls on the afternoons you have your heaviest calls, it becomes an arrangement rather than a favour. If she can't, that tells you something too.
