My partner has already settled on Maples in Kukatpally for nursery. Our son is still a baby

Is it normal to be deciding this now? Maples is close to my partner's parents, and a colleague of my partner's has two children there and loves it. So in my partner's head it's done. I'm on an on-call rota and I haven't even sorted out next month's daycare closures. I'm not against the school. I just know nothing about it, and I don't like committing to something years away because one family is happy there. What, if anything, should I be finding out now, and what can wait?

My partner did exactly this when our daughter was born. Different school, a colleague's recommendation, all decided. By the time she was three we had both changed our minds twice, for reasons nobody could have predicted. Let your partner have the plan for now, it costs nothing yet :)

only thing worth knowing early is when they open nursery forms and what age cutoff they go by. we found out late for our younger one's preschool and nearly lost a year. rest can wait till he's two

The cutoff point is useful, thank you. I'll find out when the forms open and leave the rest for later. My partner will be pleased I'm 'involved'.
