my mum can do pickups from the amberpet side. anyone with little ones at sri sai rama high school?

my mum has offered to do school pickups from next year, and sri sai rama high school is a short drive from her place. it's state board, nursery to 10. anyone with kids in the small classes there? how long is the lkg day, and is it a big jump from a daycare that runs an ib style programme. he's 4 and mostly plays all day right now

Financial District to Amberpet every morning? Or would your mother do both drop and pickup?

Also ask who covers when your mother is unwell or travelling. A school chosen around one grandparent is fragile. What's the backup?

We drive through Amberpet most weekends to see family. The main road at school time is slow. From Financial District I'd budget over an hour each way on a bad day.

mum would do pickup. drop is the problem. one idea was he stays at hers some weeknights, but i haven't really thought that through

      Replying to @ochre_diary_6404

fair. she's well but not young. right now our daycare backup is my sister, and she'd be even further from amberpet

we moved ours from a play-based preschool to a regular school for lkg, years back. first month she complained about sitting at a desk, by the second month she'd stopped mentioning it. the bigger change for us was the early start, not the board

the early start is what i'm dreading. he wakes at 8 on a good day 😅

I don't know the school, but I would suggest visiting with your mother rather than alone. She is the one who will be at that gate every afternoon, and she will notice things about pickup that you might not: where to stand, how long it takes, whether there is any shade. Have you asked her how she feels about doing it every day for a full year? Offering and doing are not always the same thing.
