My housekeeper's 2 year old comes with her on Saturdays now. What should I keep at home for him?

Her mother-in-law has gone back to the village, so the boy comes along on Saturday mornings for about three hours. He is two, quiet, and sits in a corner of the kitchen watching her phone. I would rather he had something else to do. My granddaughter's old toys are all for an older child, and I have not bought anything for a two year old in a very long time. What do children that age really play with for three hours? Specific things, please, not 'sensory activities'.

Steel vessels and a wooden spoon kept my son busy longer than any toy did at that age. Also a box of large wooden blocks. Nothing with small parts, and nothing that needs an adult sitting with him, since his mother will be working.

A few board books and a ball. It's also worth asking his mother what he likes. If he's used to the phone he may not take to anything new in the first week, so I'd let the phone stay for part of the morning rather than turn it into a battle for her.

ours is younger, but the most played-with things in our house are a plastic bottle with dried chana inside, taped shut, and the cardboard box the high chair came in. i'm a little offended on behalf of the high chair.

Mine is almost two, so this is current: Stacking cups A tub of water on the balcony with a few cups and spoons (he will get wet) Chunky crayons and old newspaper A ball The water tub alone buys an hour here ❤️
