My 9 year old wants me to teach him coding because 'it's your job'

He saw a friend's game made in Scratch and wants to make one too. Fair enough. The problem is he wants me as the teacher, and when I try, within ten minutes it turns into my lab voice and he walks off in a huff. I'd happily pay for a short class or find something he can do on his own, I just don't know what's any good at this age. Did your child pick it up from a course, or from tinkering?

The lab voice thing happened in our house too, except it was maths and my partner. Our younger one learnt Scratch mostly from the built-in tutorials and by remixing the sample projects. He's 10 now and still makes games, most of them broken, which seems to be the fun part :)

Our daughter learnt from her masi, not from either of us. Somehow an aunt explaining a loop is fine and a parent explaining the same loop is an attack. Is there a cousin or a colleague's older child who could sit with him for a few sessions?
