My 9 year old wants her arm hair waxed after a comment at dance class

An older girl in her dance class said something about her arms during a break last week. Since then my daughter has been wearing full sleeves at home and has asked if she can get her arms waxed like the big girls. I'm not going to wave it away, because it clearly hurt, and I also don't want waxing at 9 to be the answer to one remark. My partner thinks we should mention it to the dance teacher. I'm not sure whether that makes her more self-conscious if the other girl hears about it. What did you say the first time your daughter wanted to change something about her body because of what someone said?

No daughter, so I can't say much on the waxing. On the teacher: you could ask her to keep an ear on what gets said during breaks, without naming anyone. Teachers usually know who the commenters are.

That's a fair middle option. I'll speak to the teacher after Saturday's class without naming the girl, and keep the waxing conversation for another day.
