Moved dinner to 7 so I can eat with the kids before my US calls. Nobody's hungry at 7

Three evenings a week I'm on calls with a US team from about 7.30 to 9.30. Until now the kids ate at 8.30 without me, my 16 year old serving her brother. I hated missing it, so this week I moved dinner to 7 on call nights. The 10 year old picks at his plate because his snack was at 5. My daughter says 7 is 'lunch time for adults'. Both of them are raiding the kitchen at 10. Do I shift the snack earlier, make it smaller, or accept that call nights are just not family dinner nights?

we eat at 7.15 most nights because of my schedule. son grumbled for a month. what fixed it was cutting the 5 pm snack down to fruit only, no biscuits. hungry by 7 now. the 10 pm raid still happens sometimes 🤷

Second the smaller snack. Also, as someone else who lives on cross-timezone calls: do all three need to be live? I moved one of mine to a recorded update with comments and nobody missed it. That gets you one normal dinner back 😄

Tried the fruit-only snack last night. The 10 year old ate a proper dinner, with some complaints about the fruit. My daughter still thinks 7 is too early but sat with us, which was the point. One night isn't proof, but it's a start. Moving one call is a good idea; I'll raise it with the team after Diwali.
