Keeping St. Alphonsus in Banjara Hills in mind for class 3. Is State Board primary really lighter?

ochre_sparrow_2196

We live close to St. Alphonsus High School and it's on our list for next year, when my son moves up to class 3. He's in CBSE now and doing fine, so nothing is urgent. Everyone I mention it to says State Board in the primary classes is 'lighter'. My partner teaches and says the board hardly matters before class 6. I'd rather hear from someone whose child is at St. Alphonsus, or another State Board school, about an ordinary week: homework, tests, and how much Telugu they expect from a child joining in class 3.

son did english medium state board all the way, different school, now in inter. telugu is compulsory as a subject, that part is real, check it early. the rest wasn't lighter or heavier, just different. more written work, fewer projects. can't speak for st alphonsus

Telugu is spoken at home, so that may be easier for us. More written work and fewer projects would suit him. He dreads the project weekends.

That's a real plus for you. Our son is in CBSE class 3 and even the small Telugu portion has the whole house stuck. We're Marathi at home, our caregiver reads it out for us 🙂

      Replying to @fern_diary_9982

The caregiver as Telugu tutor sounds very familiar. Still hoping someone with a child at St. Alphonsus sees this.

Have you asked if you can sit in on part of a class 3 day? Some schools allow it if you ask ahead. You'd learn more from one morning there than from any of us.
