dp starts this year. she wants visual arts at higher level and maths at standard. she's good at both. her reasoning is she enjoys art and 'maths SL is enough for most things'. not sure it is. i work in data so maybe i'm biased
Enough for what? Depends entirely on what she wants after school. If she doesn't know yet, that's the question to settle first, not the subject.
she says design or architecture. which is why i thought maths HL mattered
went through a few university pages tonight. for design most just want maths at some level, not HL. architecture varies by place. so maybe she's right and i'm the problem

Has she asked her art teacher what the HL workload is like alongside her other subjects? That might decide it more than the maths question.
no idea about IB levels but a kid who enjoys a subject usually does better in it than one who picked it to be safe. two years is a long time
