I handle everything for our son's school, yet every call still goes to my partner

pebble_moon_6815

My partner spends half the week on construction sites with patchy signal. I'm the one who deals with school: forms, fees, pickups, the class group. Years ago, at his first playschool, my partner's number went down as the first contact, and it seems to have followed him everywhere since. When he had a fever in March, the school called my partner three times before anyone tried me. I've asked the front office twice to swap the order and been told it's done. It isn't. Before I write a formal letter, has anyone found a simpler way to get a school to change who it calls first?

ask them to show you the record on screen while you're standing at the counter. 'it's done' usually means someone wrote it on a sticky note. took us two visits

Also check where the call comes from. Ours had the order right in the office software, but the class teacher kept her own list on her phone from the first week. Two separate lists. Nobody updates the second one.

Same pattern with us for years, the school kept calling my partner because that number was on the very first form. We gave up and set call forwarding on my partner's phone for court hours 🤷 Not elegant. Works.

A formal email to the principal with the class teacher copied fixed it for us in one go, after months of the front office saying yes. Polite, one paragraph, the order of contacts written out. I felt silly writing a letter about a phone number, but it stuck 🙂
