How regular do horse riding lessons need to be for a 10 year old?

My daughter has wanted riding lessons since she sat on a pony at a farm stay during the summer holidays, and she hasn't let it go. There are a couple of riding clubs on the outskirts, both a long drive from Secunderabad. What I can't work out is the commitment. Is once a week on a Sunday enough to learn anything, or does it only work at two or three sessions? And do children usually stay with it past the first term, or does it end at the first fall? I'd rather know before we buy boots.

no idea about riding. for anything with a long drive we asked for a 4 or 5 session trial first, before any gear or membership. the drive killed swimming for us faster than the sport did

My elder one did a two-week riding camp one summer holiday. She loved it and was happy with weekly sessions afterwards, but we stopped after a few months because the Sunday drive was eating the whole morning for the rest of us. Helmets were provided there, and beginners were allowed in sports shoes with a small heel, so we never bought boots. Ask about that before spending.
