How much games time do the middle classes get at SR Digi School, Vanasthalipuram?

plum_gecko_2089

We're looking at a few CBSE schools on the east side for class 8 next year, and SR Digi in Vanasthalipuram is on the list. Academics wise I'll get the usual answers at the front office. What I can't get from a brochure is how much the kids get to play. My son is in class 7 now and plays football every evening he can. At his current school the PE periods have quietly started going to 'extra maths' this term, and he comes home with all that energy still in him. Do class 7 and 8 children there get regular games periods, and is there a proper ground? Anyone with a child in the middle classes, or who has visited recently, would help 🙂

no idea about that school. but the pe periods disappearing happened with my son around class 8 too, and they never really came back. by 11 the only exercise he got was the walk to the bus. i didn't push it then and i think about that sometimes

That's exactly the slide I'm worried about. This time I'll ask to see a class 8 timetable, not just the ground.

Teacher here, different school. From the staff side, games periods are the first thing borrowed when a syllabus runs late, so the timetable on paper doesn't always match what happens in a term. When you visit, ask two things: how many games periods class 8 gets in a week, and whether those get used for other subjects in exam months. The answer to the second one tells you more 🙂

Does that happen in primary as well? We've only just started looking at nursery for next year, and every school we've seen so far shows off the play area first.

The second question is a good one, I wouldn't have thought to ask it that way. Will report back if they give me a straight answer.
