Home tiffin service around Alwal for a few weeks? Our cook has gone to her village

rose_kettle_7585

Our cook has gone to her village for a month, maybe longer. I'm back on customer visits, my partner's hospital hours are what they are, and the baby takes whatever energy is left. My 13 year old has been very sporting about instant noodles but that can't go on 🤷 Looking for someone around Alwal, Old Alwal or Bolarum who delivers simple home food. Lunch and dinner for two adults plus something for my daughter. Nothing fancy, less oil, rice, dal and one sabzi is plenty. Anyone using one they like?

Can't help with Alwal specifically, we're nowhere near it. When our cook was away we found someone through our colony's residents' group, not online. A neighbour's relative who cooked for three families. Worth asking in yours.

We used a home tiffin service for about six weeks last year when my mother was away. Two suggestions from that. Take a trial week before agreeing to a month. The first few days are always the best food you'll get. And ask whether they cook fresh each morning or in one batch the night before, because that makes a real difference by dinner. Do you need two separate deliveries, or would one delivery for both meals work for you?

used one for a month when our kitchen was being redone. dal was great, everything else swimming in oil. son started calling it 'the shiny food' lol

Some of the home kitchens in Kompally deliver up to Alwal. We ordered from one for a few weeks earlier this year. Ask in the Kompally residents' groups, they get recommended there often. I won't name ours, the quality went up and down.

Two adults out all day and a 13 year old at home are different orders. Lunch for people on the road needs a box that travels. Dinner needs to be hot at 8. Most services do one of those well, not both. Decide which one you need covered first.

That split is right. We tried one service for both meals and dinner was always lunch, reheated. Ended up keeping the tiffin only for lunch and doing simple dinners ourselves.
