class 5 started this month. for four years his notebooks looked like a spider had walked through ink. went through them on sunday and every page is neat, margins ruled, date underlined. he hasn't said much about the teacher, only that 'sir checks'. not complaining. just noticing that a different person asked for the same thing we've been asking for since class 1.
Our daughter's handwriting improved overnight in class 2 when her new teacher started giving a star for the neatest page. A year of the same request from us before that, nothing. It wore off a little after a few months, but not all the way.
a star chart would work on him too, which is slightly embarrassing for us. hoping some of it sticks.
Enjoy it while it lasts 🤷 our older one did the same for a new teacher in class 5. By the half yearly it was back to normal, only the underlined date survived
