Her Hindi exam centre came out as Shiva Sai Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar. We'd picked Jubilee Hills

Our daughter is writing one of the Hindi Prachar Sabha exams this year through a teacher near us, and we gave a centre near home as first choice. The hall ticket came yesterday with Shiva Sai Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar, 9 am on a Sunday later this month. Her teacher says centres are final once allotted. She has prepared and the fee is paid, but she's 12, already nervous about it, and this means leaving Jubilee Hills before 7.30 for a paper she half-signed up for because her friends did. Part of me says it's good practice for exams in an unfamiliar room. Part of me says it's a lot of Sunday for one test. Has anyone been allotted a far centre like this, and did you go?

Happens every year. With most of these the centre is final, so her teacher has already given you the real answer. Leave by 7.15 on a Sunday and you'll be early 😄

Our 12 year old joined us this year, and her first test here was at a school none of us knew. I drove her. She did fine, and the drive back was the first long conversation the two of us had ever had. Not a reason on its own, but it surprised me.

If she's prepared, I'd go. What I'd plan for is the nerves, not the distance. A strange school, a strange room, and none of her classmates around. Some children freeze at that more than at the paper itself. Maybe drive past once the Sunday before, so the building isn't new on the day 🙂

Agree about the room. I'd add the ordinary things: what she eats beforehand, whether there's a clock in the hall, a spare pencil and eraser. On a long early drive, breakfast is usually what gets skipped.

+1 to driving past before. did that for my older one's exam at a school we didn't know last year, she said it helped. parking was the only headache

      Replying to @sage_trail_3789

We'll go. Driving past the Sunday before is easy enough, and I'd rather she finds out she can manage a strange room at 12 than at 16.
