Her friends' parents are paying admission consultants for Indian colleges. Is that a thing now?

Daughter starts class 12 next week. Science, no settled direction yet. At a birthday lunch on Sunday two families told me they've signed up with consultants, not for abroad, for private universities here. Packages, timelines, 'profile building', a WhatsApp group with reminders. One of them showed me a spreadsheet. I'd rather she prepared properly for her boards and one or two exams she cares about, and we kept track of dates ourselves. Is that naive? Did anyone use one, and did it change anything?

Not naive. Most of what they sell is a calendar of forms and deadlines, which you can keep yourself. My son's seniors whose parents paid for one mostly landed where they would have landed anyway. Ask her which colleges she would really join, and work back from that.
