Her friends are already planning SAT prep in MYP 4. Is that early?

Our daughter has just started MYP 4. Over the past week, three of her friends told her they had begun weekend SAT classes, and two families have hired a counsellor for applications abroad. We haven't decided anything about where she studies after school, and neither has she. I don't want her to feel left behind. Paying for preparation towards a path nobody has chosen yet seems premature, though. When did you start thinking about tests like the SAT, if at all, and did starting early make any difference?
