Her friend group split over the summer and she's been eating lunch in the library

Daughter is in grade 9. The four of them were inseparable till May. Something happened over the holidays, nobody will tell me what, and now two are in one group, one in another, and she's somewhere in between. She told my partner, very casually, that she eats lunch in the library 'because it's quiet'. She seems okay at home. Reads a lot, laughs at dinner. Do I leave this alone? Or is 'it's quiet' code for something 😅

Is the library her choice or her hiding place? From outside they look identical. My elder one spent most of a term in the school library at lunch last year, and the only person it worried was me. I found out more by asking what she was reading there than by asking who she sat with.

Our meye went through a reshuffle like this in class 8. Groups at this age rearrange themselves every year or so. What helped her was having one thing outside school with her own people, a weekend art class in her case. If she's laughing at dinner, I would watch quietly for now 🙂

Has she said she minds? If she's reading, eating and not sad, I'd give it a few weeks.
