Her best friend has moved to Kakatiya Vidya Niketan in Tolichowki, and now she wants to move too

Our daughter's closest friend left their ICSE school this year and has just joined Kakatiya Vidya Niketan in Tolichowki, which is State Board. Family reasons, I think. Since then our daughter keeps asking if she can go too. We're in Begumpet, so it's a longer drive than now, and a board change at her stage. I'm not going to say no without looking. But I'm fairly sure this is about the friend and not the school. Has anyone moved a child from ICSE to State Board around class 8? How did the switch go?

Before the board question, I'd ask her to describe an ordinary Tuesday at the new school. Not the friend part. The drive, the classes, the homework. If she can't, she's moving towards a person rather than a place. Our older son wanted to follow a friend to another school in class 7, and the conversation ended once he had to picture the commute.

From the State Board side: not easier, just different. More learning by heart, and more Telugu than she may be used to, depending on what her second language has been. If she's done ICSE till now, writing long answers won't be a problem for her. Also the friend won't be next to her in every class. Worth saying that to her out loud.
