Grandson's drawing competition is at SRKS Vidyalaya High School in Dilsukhnagar. Worth the trip from Nallagandla?

My grandson's art class has entered a few children in an inter-school drawing competition on a Sunday later this month, and the venue is SRKS Vidyalaya High School in Dilsukhnagar. His parents are travelling that weekend, so I would be the one taking him. He is lukewarm about it. He likes drawing, but he did not choose to enter, and he gets carsick on long drives. From Nallagandla it is the far side of the city, and the roads in this rain are unpredictable. Has anyone travelled across town for a children's competition like this? Was it worth it for a child who is not very keen, and how much time should I allow on a Sunday morning?
