Four-week drone building workshop after first year of engineering. How do you judge these?

Our son has finished his first year of electrical engineering and is home for the break. A senior has recommended a four-week drone building workshop in the city, with a certificate at the end, and he is keen. I have no objection to him spending the break on something hands-on. My difficulty is that every such workshop says the same things on its page: industry exposure, live projects, placement value. I cannot tell from the outside which ones mean he will build and fly something himself and which ones are a lecture hall with a kit on the table. For those whose children have done short technical courses between semesters: what did you ask before paying, and what turned out to matter? I am less interested in the certificate than in whether he comes back knowing more than he went in with.
