Every visitor for the baby brings sweets, and I can't stop judging other people's laddoos

The baby turned one month this week, and the visitors have properly started now. Every single one arrives with a box of sweets, which is very kind of them and I'm not complaining. The problem is that I make sweets for a living. So I'm sitting there feeding the baby, smiling, and in my head it's 'too much ghee', 'this besan isn't roasted enough', 'who puts this much cardamom in anything'. My partner has banned me from reading the labels out loud while guests are still in the house. Nine boxes on the dining table and counting.

  • Freeze whatever freezes and give the rest to your building staff and the delivery boys. We did that with festival boxes one year and nobody ever said no 🙂 And don't let the visitors see your face while they eat, they'll stop coming and then you'll miss them.

Free market research, delivered to your sofa. Note down which shops people are buying from. That's your competition list.

In Vijayawada these boxes never get eaten, they get forwarded. My mother once received the same box of kaju katli back from the neighbour she had given it to, same ribbon and everything. Mark yours before you pass them on.

Or skip the colony and send them to a school staffroom. Teachers will finish nine boxes before the second bell, and nobody will ask about the ghee 😄

      Replying to @ochre_pool_755

The nearest staffroom we have is my partner's office, so four boxes went there this morning. I kept one, purely for research. It was very good, which annoyed me more ❤️
