does an older sibling in the school actually help with lkg admission?

elder one is in class 8 at the school near us in wakad. son is 3, so lkg forms for next year. everyone says sibling gets preference. is that real or do they still make the younger one go through the full process. don't want to skip applying elsewhere and then find out.

Here in Hyderabad our school gave sibling preference, but the younger one still had to do the interaction like everyone else. It helped, but it was not automatic. Pune schools might do it differently, so I would still apply at one or two other places, just to be safe.
