Do nursery kids at Kennedy High in Kukatpally get written homework?

mellow_trail_3206

Our daughter is in the toddler group at a very play-based daycare. No worksheets, no writing, lots of sand and water. We've started looking at schools for nursery from June 2027, and Kennedy High - The Magnet School is close to us. What I'd like to know from current parents is whether nursery children there get written homework, and how much. I'm not against some structure. I just don't want a small child doing tracing sheets at 7 pm after a full day, on the evenings when neither of us is home before 6.30.

Not at Kennedy, but from our son's nursery year at another CBSE school: there was 'homework', but it was mostly colouring and stick-a-leaf kind of things, maybe twice a week. The pressure came more from the class group, with parents posting their kid's perfect tracing, than from the teacher. Baba, that group was the real homework.

It may help to ask the school at the visit, and to phrase it specifically: 'what goes home in a typical nursery week?' The general question usually gets 'very little'. The specific one gets you a description. If they show you a nursery notebook, notice whether the writing in it looks like the child's or clearly an adult's.

also worth asking whether homework is optional in practice or just on paper. 'optional' at our neighbour's preschool came with a sticker chart on the wall with every kid's name on it

My grandson's nursery sent small tracing books. He did them with me after his nap, ten minutes, some days not at all. Nobody fails nursery. Don't worry too much amma.
