Do chapatis packed the night before stay soft till lunch?

I leave for school at 6.40, my partner leaves even earlier, so the boys' polis get packed at night. By lunch they are hard and the 9 year old has started bringing them back. What do others do? Pack at night and keep in the fridge? Some trick? Packing in the morning is not possible most days.

fridge overnight, then 20 seconds warm in the morning before packing, if anyone's up. rolls with something inside stay softer than plain ones. we do a paneer roll most days

No tiffins here yet, I'm up with a one-month-old. But my amma packed ours the night before for years: chapatis wrapped in a slightly damp cotton cloth, then into the box. Still soft at lunch. Might be worth trying before you change the whole routine.

Damp cloth, my aai used to do something like this. Forgot completely. Will try tonight.

One question. The small one's box is steel with a tight lid. Will the damp cloth make it sweat inside, or is it ok?
