Daycare sends him home for a runny nose, and in July he always has one

umber_compass_9887

Third call this month asking me to collect him early. No fever, eating fine, playing fine, just a nose that hasn't stopped running since the rains started. I understand the rule, there are other babies in the room. But I'm the main earner, this is release-testing week, and leaving at 2 pm is not really possible on those days. Is this what the first daycare monsoon looks like for everyone? Did your daycare accept a doctor's note?

ours has had a running nose since june too. our daycare's written rule turned out to be fever or green, not any nose at all. ask them to put the rule in writing, because the staff on the floor were stricter than the policy

A lot of babies in their first daycare year have a cold more weeks than not, especially now. Get him seen once by your paediatrician so someone has properly looked at him, and ask for a short note saying he's fine to attend. Most daycares will take that. Fever, fast breathing or not feeding is a different story, of course.

the note worked at our younger one's playschool too. they wanted a fresh one every two weeks though, so it becomes a regular trip

Took him in on the way home this evening. The doctor checked him, wrote two lines, and the daycare said that's fine unless something changes. Thank you, I was too frazzled to think of the simple thing.
