Daycare says my 18 month old 'won't sit for circle time'. Is she supposed to?

The note in her daily report: 'Did not participate in circle time, kept walking around.' Three days in a row. She is a year and a half. I don't know what sitting in a circle for fifteen minutes is meant to look like at that age, and nobody at pickup could tell me what they expect. Real concern, or a line on a form?

This was a long time ago, my daughter is in college now. At her playschool the toddlers who sat through circle time were the exception. Her teacher once told me the walkers usually listen anyway, they just do it moving. I'd ask what they want instead of the walking: sitting, or just staying in the room?

Asking what they mean is the right move. When ours was that age the report said she 'wandered', and when we asked, it turned out the room had a new teacher who was stricter about it. Nothing to do with our daughter.

      Replying to @mint_lantern_2368

Asked today. They want her to stay on the mat, not sit still, which is more reasonable than the note made it sound. The form still needs a better line.
