Daughter's first overnight school trip is after Diwali and I'm more nervous than she is

maple_diary_8454

Grade 7, two nights at a camp outside the city. She is excited. The school has sent a consent form and a packing list, and phones are not allowed on the trip. Before I sign, what do parents usually ask the school? Which teachers go, how rooms are given, what happens if a child is unwell at night. Anything else?

My son went on his first one in class 7 too. I asked who sleeps on the same floor as the children and how the school contacts parents if something comes up. They shared one teacher's number for the two days. He came back with a cold and a hundred stories ❤️

I've gone along as staff on a few of these. What helps us: a short note about anything she's anxious about (the dark, food, being homesick), and any medicines handed to the teacher in a labelled pouch, not packed in her bag. Most kids are fine by the second night.

Useful, thanks. She doesn't take any medicines. Should I mention she has never slept away from family, or will that make them treat her differently?
