Daughter has decided on CA after one video. What does the work look like on an ordinary day?

Our 14 year old watched a video about chartered accountancy last week and has since announced it as her plan. I don't mind the plan. I mind that neither of us knows what the job is like on an ordinary Tuesday, or what the years of training involve beyond 'lots of exams'. If someone in your family is a CA or trained as one, what did the articleship years look like in hours and routine? Is there anything she should be doing at 14, or is it fine to wait until after class 10?

A close friend from college trained as a CA. Her articleship years were long office days, and in audit season she travelled to client sites and got home late most weeks. Exams were spread across those years, so studying happened at night and on weekends. She liked the work, but says she'd have wanted to know about the hours at 14. At this age I would let her keep maths and see whether she enjoys accounts once she actually studies it.

Ours wanted to be a lawyer after a courtroom series. Then a marine biologist. Something new every few weeks for the past eight months 🤷 Not saying CA won't stick, just don't buy any books yet.

My mama's son is a CA in Ahmedabad. Long hours in his training years, yes, but he says the first proper job was steadier than people think. If she's serious, maybe she can spend a day at a small CA office in the holidays and watch the routine herself 🙂
