the welcome sheet from school says children should know their full address and one parent's number before class 1 starts. he knows our building name and 'near the big tree'. tried singing the number like a rhyme. he sings it happily, in a different order every time. how did yours learn it
we wrote it on a card in his bag and he practised 'calling' us on a toy phone. took most of a summer. he's 8 now and still swaps two digits when he's nervous
Breaking it into chunks worked for us, the way you'd say it aloud to someone. He learnt one chunk a week and we only put them together at the end. The address we did on walks, reading the board at the gate and the road name each time. Don't worry about the order yet, he's five ❤
worth teaching him whichever number is most likely to be answered. ours learnt mine first and i was the one always in a lecture with the phone off
