CBSE to state board for class 3. How much Telugu would Little Hearts School expect?

orchid_moon_9007

Daughter finishes class 2 in a CBSE school where Telugu is a light subject, letters and some simple words. We're looking at options closer home for class 3, and Little Hearts in Kukatpally is one of them. What I want to know from parents there: does a child joining class 3 from CBSE get any help catching up in Telugu, or is she expected to manage? Is Hindi taught at that level too? We speak Odia at home, so I can't help her with either.

  • Ours is older and at a different school, so only a suggestion. Ask them to show you the class 2 Telugu textbook they use. If she can read most of it, she'll catch up within a term. If she can't, a home tutor over the summer would be time well spent. Second language is usually where a mid-way joiner feels the gap first.

the textbook idea is good. our older one is in CBSE too and her Telugu is still around that level in class 6, so dont feel bad about where your daughter is. a friend who moved her son to state board said it took him about a year before he stopped dreading the Telugu period
