she's been with us since january and he adores her. but when i get home early i find her on long video calls while he naps, volume up, and sometimes while he's awake and playing next to her. i don't want to lose her over this. how do you raise it so it doesn't feel like i've been watching her

We had this with a caregiver when our daughter was small. Calls during nap time we decided were her break, and fine. Calls while our daughter was awake were not, and we said exactly that, once, calmly, as a house rule rather than a complaint about her. She took it well. Give her the nap time, it's the only break she gets.

Same split with our weekend help. Nap time is her own time, awake time the phone stays in the bag. Putting it in writing with the other house rules made it feel less personal.

      Replying to @sunny_quilt_2530

nap time as her break is fair. it was mostly the awake part. will put it that way
