When our elder one was small my partner carried a steel dabba of dry fruit laddus my mother-in-law made, one every couple of hours, even in meetings. Nobody asked, everybody wanted one 🙂 Also curd rice packed the night before. It was still fine by lunch and you can finish it in five minutes.

Sunday night I'd boil a dozen eggs and fill a big dabba of chivda. Every morning two eggs plus whatever leftovers were around, in one box. Not exciting but it got eaten. What made the difference for me was keeping it on the desk where I could see it, not inside the bag.

Shift workers' rule: two small meals, not one lunch. One at 11, one at 3. The 4 pm slump is usually the one you skipped.

The two small meals thing holds for long research days too. My partner's version when our son was a baby was a box of muri and chanachur in the drawer and a proper roti roll at 3. Slightly dangerous, the muri box never lasted the week 🙂
