asking for my sister, who lives in saroornagar and isn't on here. she's looking at it for her daughter's nursery next june because it's five minutes from her flat. her worry is the change at class 8. do most children shift fine then, or do families move earlier to avoid it?

From my niece's class, two girls joined in class 7 from smaller schools and both had settled in by the end of the first term. The schools mostly asked for the transfer certificate and recent report cards. A child who has had eight years in one place usually has a steady base to move from. Class 8 is a reasonable time.

Ours are at a school that goes all the way, so we never had to decide this. But a few of their classmates came in from schools that ended at 5 or 7, and the ones who came a bit earlier had an easier time with friends. Hard to say whether that's the age or the children 🙂

useful, thanks. will pass it on. she was already wondering about moving at 6 instead of waiting.
