A child wants to try the drums in an apartment

Our preschooler has discovered rhythm by tapping kitchen containers, which is charming until a neighbour needs quiet. I'm looking for a way to encourage the interest without turning the kitchen into rehearsal space. What small options have worked?

Short movement games can explore rhythm without making the building sound like a rehearsal hall. We start with claps and quiet patterns.

Try tapping patterns on cushions or using hand claps before buying instruments.

A cushion rehearsal might save both our neighbours and our kitchen containers.

A soft surface and short agreed play periods can reduce the noise.

The cushion concert sounds achievable without a shopping expedition.
