Granddaughter eats on her own at home, her parents tell us. With us it's a different story. She sits on the sofa, opens her mouth, and her grandmother feeds her every meal, rice, rasam, the whole thing. Takes 40 minutes. My wife enjoys it. I think at 5 she should be sitting at the table with a spoon. Am I being an old grouch?
My son wanted his nanny to feed him till he was nearly 6. It stopped on its own once he started eating lunch with friends at school and realised nobody else was being fed. I wouldn't fight it at your place if she eats by herself at home. It's a grandparent thing, and it ends sooner than you'd think.

Different kind of feeding at your end! No, don't worry, she manages perfectly well by herself at home. It's only at ours that she suddenly forgets how.
