40 minutes of football coaching, and most of it was my 5 year old standing in a queue

silver_rain_7701

Our son started a weekend football batch last month. I stayed to watch on Saturday: about twenty children, two coaches, all drills done in a line. Most of the 40 minutes was waiting for his turn. I counted six touches of the ball. He says he loves it, so I'm not pulling him out. But is this how coaching for 5 year olds usually works, or are there places that do small games where they actually get the ball?

You counted touches, I love it 😊 My daughter's first tennis batch at 7 was mostly picking up balls for the older kids. We moved to a smaller batch and it was a different experience for her, though it was further from home and we had to give up a weekday evening for it. Not sure there's a perfect answer.
