13 year old wants to study design. when do people start preparing for nid or nift?

she's in class 8. makes all the posters for her class, redesigned the school magazine cover for fun, draws every evening. now she's heard about design colleges from a cousin and wants to know if she should start coaching. i have no idea how this field works. is class 8 too early to even think about it, or is there something she should be doing now?

same age here and mine's into drawing too. we've just kept her in sketchbooks, haven't looked at entrances. figured class 11 would be early enough

A colleague's daughter cleared a design entrance last year. From what she told me, what helped most was drawing from observation every week for a few years, people, objects, streets, not a coaching course started early. The coaching was only for the last several months, to get used to the paper format. At 13 I would keep her drawing and let her keep doing the posters. That is already the practice.
