Agree with the 'go looking' part. I came up through B.Tech from Warangal because nobody I knew considered anything else. Some of the sharpest analysts I've worked with since did a BSc and picked up skills on their own. Nobody in those interviews asked for an entrance rank.

One more question for the parents who've done this: did the CBSE schools offer ICSE students a seat before the class 10 results, or only once the marks were out?

Reading this from the other end. Our daughter is 3 and we're still deciding where she starts. My wife leans IB, I lean CBSE, and what I keep asking is whether a later switch is painful. Good to hear it's mostly the exam pattern.

This is exactly the comparison I keep trying to make for our daughter, who starts nursery next June. My wife leans IB, I studied in state board and lean CBSE. Every comparison table says 'ICSE has more literature', but nobody explains what that looks like in an actual class. Could you say which part felt harder to her, the reading itself or the questions? Even one example would help me more than another table.
