Wrist link or reins for a new walker in the apartment parking. Do people here use them?

Our daughter has just started walking properly and her one goal in life is the parking basement. The moment the lift opens she's off, straight towards the cars reversing out. I've seen those wrist links and little backpack reins online. My amma would call it a dog leash and laugh at me. Before I order one, does anyone here use them for a toddler, and does she just sit down and refuse to move? Holding hands works for about four steps 🙂

We're not walking yet, so no verdict from me. At school our nursery staff use a walking rope with handles when they take the little ones across campus, and the children treat it as a game rather than a restraint. The trick seemed to be that the rope came out only for the walk to the bus, never as a punishment. A wrist link used only in the basement might be read the same way by a one year old.
