Working from home with jazz on all day. The caregiver says that's why he won't nap

On the days I'm home I've always worked with music on, mostly old jazz records at low volume. The baby crawls in and bounces to it, which I enjoy far too much. Our caregiver thinks it's the reason his afternoon nap has shrunk to forty minutes on my home days. On office days he sleeps nearly two hours. She may well be right, the flat is small and the music carries. Headphones all day are not appealing. Has anyone else had to change how they work from home around a baby's nap, and did it make a difference?

my partner had lo-fi playlists going all day when ours was around this age. same pattern. what worked was music off from the moment the nap routine started, not just once he was asleep. he'd been hearing it while winding down and stayed half awake listening

That makes sense. The routine starts around 1.30 and that's usually when I'm in the middle of something with the volume up. Will try switching it off at the start of the routine tomorrow.

Day one update. Music off at 1.30, headphones on. He slept an hour and fifty. Unfortunately he then found me with the headphones, crawled over and pulled them off my head, so he clearly wants the music, just not at nap time. The caregiver is very pleased with herself.
