Two-year-old nephew arriving for three weeks. What do we put away in a flat that's been toddler-free for years?

My sister is coming from Kanpur with her son for three weeks of the holidays. He's two and, going by the video calls, climbs everything. Our son is 9, so our flat in Gachibowli hasn't been toddler-proofed in a long time. Cricket balls in every corner, a glass centre table, and a balcony grille I've never really looked at closely. What did you check first when a small child came to stay? I'd rather do a quick round now than learn it on the first evening.

Speaking from when my daughter was that age, so it has been some years: the things that caught us weren't the obvious ones. Medicines and cleaning liquids on low shelves, mosquito repellent refills plugged in at knee height, and the kitchen drawer with knives. The glass table we simply padded at the corners with folded towels for the fortnight.

Add phone chargers left plugged in at floor level. Ours went straight for those.

Which floor are you on, and how wide are the gaps in that grille? If it's high up and a small hand plus head fits through, fix that before he lands. Most of the rest you can manage by watching him. And crawl around the flat at his eye level for five minutes. You'll find more than any list will give you.
