Toddler won't get into our lift since it jerked once. We're on the sixth floor

hazel_notebook_1004

Since last Thursday our son screams if we go anywhere near the lift. The lift stopped with a small jolt between floors for maybe five seconds, and that was it. He's not even one and a half, so I can't explain anything to him. Now every daycare drop is six floors of stairs with him on my hip and the bag on the other shoulder, and on release days I come home after 9 and do it again. Did your little one get over something like this by themselves, or did you have to do something?

Is it the movement he hates or the doors closing on him? Our daughter was terrified of the mall escalator at about that age, and it turned out to be the noise at the bottom, not the moving. Took us a while to figure that out.

Our grandson would not go near a hand dryer for a year. We did not push. Let him watch from outside the lift a few days, doors open, nobody getting in.

our building lift does the same jolt. my daughter at that age wanted to press the buttons herself and that changed it for her. took a couple of weeks of only going one floor

Tried the button thing this evening after daycare. He pressed 6, then wanted out before the doors closed, but we stayed in for one floor and he didn't cry. I'll take it ♥
