Three parcels this week, all hers. Our 14 year old has discovered online shopping

She gets a small monthly amount, plus birthday money she'd been sitting on for months. She pays cash on delivery out of her own savings, so technically it's her business. Earrings, a phone cover, a tote bag that is 'for school'. Each thing is cheap. Together they're most of her money, and half of it has already gone back as returns. My partner says let her learn the hard way. I keep wanting to step in every time I see the delivery guy at the gate again 😂 Do you set rules for teenagers buying online with their own money, or leave it?

My nephew went through this last year with game purchases rather than parcels. We let it run for two months and then sat down with the order history together. He was more surprised by the total than anything else. The trade-off is that you lose some money and he works it out himself, or you step in early, save the money and have the argument instead.

the order history idea is good. my daughter worked out on her own after a couple of months that returns weren't really free. she still buys earrings. different earrings, same earrings really
