The 5 am feed is the only time I get with our 2 month old on theatre days

maple_window_8158

On list days I'm out by 6.30 and home after he's asleep. My partner suggested I take the 5 am bottle so I get some time with him, and I've done it for two weeks now. It's quiet and he stares at me the whole time. But it's 20 minutes, and half the time he falls asleep on me. Is that enough for him to know me, or do I need to rearrange things? Anyone else working these hours?

'Enough for him to know you' measured how? At two months he's learning your voice and smell in exactly those 20 minutes. The weekends will matter more as he gets older. I'd worry less about the minutes and more about whether you're sleeping.

Agree. Her father did the early feeds for my granddaughter for months because of his shifts. She is 6 now and goes to him first for everything.

Twenty minutes with nobody else around isn't nothing. My partner did the 6 am feeds during a hospital posting and those mornings are where most of our photos from that year come from. Take a photo now and then, you'll want them.

The photo point is a good one. We have hundreds of our daughter with me and maybe ten with her father, because he was always the one holding the camera.
