Taking the baby and my partner along on a three-day work trip. Has anyone done this?

orchid_compass_5137

I have three days of customer demos in Pune next month. The usual plan would be daycare plus my partner doing every pickup and night alone, and after the last trip neither of us wants to repeat that. The other option: all three of us go, my partner works remotely from the hotel and keeps the baby during the day, and I'm back by evening. He's 9 months, crawling, into everything. Has anyone done hotel stays for work with a baby this age? Was it worth it, or just exhausting in a new place?

Did it once with my daughter at about that age, for a conference. The hotel cot was useless, so we asked for a mattress on the floor and pushed the furniture back. My partner covered the days. Worth it for me, mainly because I didn't lose a week of her.

how did your partner manage the hours alone in a strange room? I have client-site trips coming and that's the bit I can't picture

From a long time ago: whoever stays back in the hotel needs a plan for the hours, not just a bag of baby things. A park nearby, somewhere with a clean place to feed, one fixed lunch spot. In our case it was the empty afternoons that wore us out, not the nights.

A plan for the hours, yes. I'll find a park near the hotel and a place that does plain rice and dal for him before we book anything.

and ask for a low floor. lifts with a pram and bags at checkout time are their own problem
