State board for class 3? Asking about Shiny Scholar School, Mehdipatnam

mellow_fern_3184

with our daughter moving up to class 3 in june, my partner has started saying state board would be calmer for the primary years. i'm not convinced but i said i'd look properly before arguing a colleague's daughter is at Shiny Scholar in Mehdipatnam and seems relaxed about it. it's not near us so this is more about understanding what a normal class 3 week looks like at a state board school like that. how much homework, how much Telugu, weekly tests or not. any current parents?

I can't speak for that school, but we have the same CBSE or state board question for nursery. What I keep hearing from families who chose state board is about Telugu: their children read and write it properly by class 3, while in CBSE it often stays a weak subject. That may matter more to you than the homework.

we're in tolichowki and drive past it often, but our son is still a toddler so i've never been inside. one thing i'd ask on a visit: whether every subject stays english medium in class 3. a friend was surprised by that at another state board school nearby.

We didn't switch, but we came close when our son was in class 2, for the same reason. What stopped us was thinking about the move back. If you go state board for primary and want CBSE again in class 6, there's an adjustment in the other direction too. Worth asking your partner whether this is for three years or for good.
