St. Gabrials in Uppal after four years of ICSE. How much Telugu would she need for class 5?

We may move to the Uppal side next year, depending on my partner's office and our own lease. Our daughter is in class 4 ICSE right now. St. Gabrials High School came up while I was looking around, since it's near the area we're considering. Two things I'm unsure about. How hard is the switch from ICSE to State Board in class 5, especially Telugu, which she only knows from her friends? And has anyone visited recently and seen the primary section? Aai keeps saying state board will be 'easier', but I don't want easier to mean bored 🙂

haven't been inside st. gabrials, only driven past. but on telugu: ask at the visit what level they expect in class 5. that was the main question for every family i know who moved to state board

Good point, I'll ask them that directly. Her spoken Telugu is okay, reading is zero.

We're also thinking about a board switch in a year or two, so I'm reading this closely. From what I see of my son's ICSE syllabus, English and science are quite heavy, so she may find those parts lighter. The adjustment I'd worry about is the language and the exam pattern ❤️

That's my feeling too. English she'll manage. Did you come across any tutor who teaches Telugu reading to an older child? I'll need one either way.

Our elder one has an ICSE friend who moved to State Board in class 6. He said the first term was mostly Telugu panic and everything else felt familiar. That's one boy's experience, nothing to do with this school. Hope the visit goes well.

if the move depends on the lease, check whether they take class 5 joiners close to june or only in the earlier rounds. would be annoying to pick the flat and miss the window
